Taxi service definitely isn’t one of the cheapest ways to move around Lake Como, but it sure is one of the quickest.
There are several companies that operate in the Lake Como area, both municipal and private. In addition to public cabs and driver-hire services (the so-called NCC, Noleggio Con Conducente), services such as FreeNow and Uber have also been active in Italy for some time, allowing private individuals to provide cab service.
In most cases, you will find cabs at the main public transportation hubs, such as train stations or bus stops.
Some of the companies operating in the Lake Como area also provide connections from/to Milan or Bergamo airports. If you wish to get to your accommodations by taxi, make sure to ask the receptionist (or your host) about the best way to organize your trip.
Because of the high tourist flow, especially in the months between May and September, I recommend planning travel and possibly booking cabs in advance.
If you can, visit Lake Como in the off-season!
Lake Como is a true corner of Italian paradise that attracts tourists from all over the world, especially during the high season (late May to late September). My advice is, if you can, to visit Lake Como during the low season (for example, in April or October) to have a more relaxing and authentic travel experience.

Rates for public cab runs usually include a fixed price of approximately €4.5 – €6.5 for each run, in addition to the payment of €1 per kilometer. The price of private rides, on the other hand, is managed independently by individual companies.
Prices may be subject to change, especially during holidays. Although this type of service can be expensive for long-distance travel, it is the best if you want to visit the Lake Como area at your own pace (especially when public transportation is limited, such as on holidays or in the evenings).

Radio Taxi Como is the cab service that mainly covers the southwestern branch of Lake Como. These are basically the classic white cabs that you find parked outside the stations or in the most strategic areas of the cities.
The service is available through the InTaxi app, which is also operational in other major Italian cities (Milan, Rome, Naples, etc.).
