First of all I want to reassure you: no matter where you stay, if you spend at least 3 nights on Lake Como, I am sure you will be able to see many of the beautiful locations that make this area of Italy famous throughout the world. In fact, in addition to any private services, you can count on public transportation (via boat or bus) to take you anywhere you want.

In this case, I would recommend staying in Como: it is the largest city on the lake (it still preserves the characteristic charm of historic villages), you can easily get there by train and it offers playgrounds and places to walk in nature at a stone’s throw from the city.
