VOLTA MUSEUM
The Tempio Voltiano was built in honor of Alessandro Volta, the inventor of the electrical battery, who was born and died in Como.
The temple hosts a museum dedicated to the scientist, which collects many memorabilia related to the inventor’s life, and also hosts a rich collection of scientific instruments and a first version of the electric battery.
The Tempio Voltiano is a significant stop of the interesting Volta tour in Como.
This neoclassical temple was built in 1927, 100 years after the death of the scientist, and was donated to the city by the industrialist Francesco Somaini. The imposing appearance of the building stands out beautifully against the amazing backdrop of Lake Como.
